Choice and control

High quality investments allow you to take as much or as little control of your superannuation as you want.

We Select

An easy solution where we select the investment mix for you, based on your age.

ANZ Smart Choice Super uses a unique way of managing your money based on where you are in your life. This 'Lifestage Investing' is centred on your age and changes with you throughout your life.

If you are young and beginning your career, ANZ Smart Choice Super automatically invests more in things like shares that have the potential to provide good returns over the longer term.

As you approach retirement, it automatically transfers to investments that are more predictable and less volatile in the short term, like cash and government bonds.

Of course some people want to be 'hands on' and manage their own money. ANZ Smart Choice Super gives you this choice with the Self Select option.

How your money is invested based on your age:

The chart displayed shows the mix of growth and defensive assets from age 16 to age 85. At 16 the percentage of growth assets is at around 90%, with defensive assets at 10%. As age increases the mix of growth vs defensive changes so that at retirement age (around 70 years old) the growth assets equal only 20% and defensive assets take up 80%.

Asset allocation*

Based on your selected age (), the asset allocation of We Select will be:

  •   Cash
  •   Australian fixed interest
  •   Global fixed interest
  •   Australian property securities
  •   Global property securities
  •   Australian shares
  •   International shares
Investment strategy

We Select provides you with exposure to both growth and defensive assets. As highlighted in the above illustration, the mix of these assets will change over time as you approach retirement, reducing your exposure to higher risk growth assets and increasing your holding of lower risk defensive assets. You will also benefit from expert, active management, designed to maximise the performance of your savings, regardless of market conditions.
